This training was facilitated to the same group of leaders as the interpersonal conflict training also shown in my portfolio. These two trainings were part of a leadership development track for newly onboarded leaders.
The skills learned in this training are foundational to people leadership, so I start with helping leaders understand how these skills help their performance as a leader. Then, we move through what both emotionally intelligent and emotionally unintelligent leadership can look like, to help them identify any areas they may need to improve. Then we talk about strategy and next steps they can take to focus on their self-development.
Tools Used: Canva, PowerPoint
Role: Learning & Development Consultant & Instructional Designer
Grounding leaders in the "why" of this topic is key to success. Without understanding why they should spend their time building skills like emotional intelligence, leaders are prone to zoning out or not taking the material seriously. So, right from the start, I point out how these skills connect to their day-to-day functions and how those functions are improved through emotional intelligence.
Clean, simplistically beautiful slide designs, along with engaging photos and colors help keep learners' attention throughout the training.
